Apply to the Collegium
The Honors Collegium is a program for purposeful undergraduates who expect to distinguish themselves beyond the baccalaureate degree. Members of the Collegium are identified early in their undergraduate career through a competitive application process. These students create customized learning experiences, embrace rigorous academics, and aspire to become intellectual leaders in the global community.
Students can become members of the Honors Collegium through two routes:
- Incoming freshmen who are awarded the Presidential Scholarship are given pre-member status until their second semester where they will have to demonstrate academic accomplishment and have at least a 3.7 GPA.
- Purposeful first and second year students with excellent credentials and a minimum 3.7 GPA can apply during our annual application process in early
spring. This process is extremely competitive.
Who Should Apply?
Application is competitive and open to all first and second year students who are looking towards pursuing advanced degree study and meet the credentials stated above. Successful applicants share the following characteristics in no particular order:
- Capacity and desire to lead and motivate others
- Creativity, initiative, and perseverance
- Currently pursuing or planning undergraduate research
- Engaged in rigorous curriculum
- Determination and drive to initiate change and make a difference in the world

New Addition for 2012 – Letters of Recommendation
Students will need to identify 1-2 faculty recommenders that will agree to write a recommendation letter directly to the Collegium. The letter should be strong and share why the student would make a good Collegium member as well as how they could benefit from the Collegium program.

Special Announcement
The Collegium application now requires letters of recommendation.
• If you are a first year student, one letter from a faculty member (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Lecturer) should be obtained.
• If you are a second year student, two letters will be required.
